i wrote this poem about body image is a written confession about an issue that I have struggled with when I was young. With toxic beauty standards dominating our society and mainstream media, it is very easy for people to become insecure about their appearance. Body image is one of many characteristics that can cause people to develop insecurities regardless of what side of the scale they fall on.

Although this poem was written with the theme of weight in mind, the poem was written in a way where the topic of body image can be interpreted in other ways. Body image affects people in many different ways, but the overarching theme of this poem is to remind my peers that despite what their thoughts tell them, they are still worthy of love and compassion.
