i wrote this poem about envy is the second poem I have written that has received an on-stage performance in front of a live audience. This poem is an extension of the two that came before it, and it is meant to acknowledge the harm that social comparison inflicts upon us.

Personally, social comparison is something that I have struggled with all my life, even to this day. It is not easy to overcome the act of comparing yourself to others, but acknowledging that it happens is the first step towards reframing your self-perception and becoming more compassionate towards yourself.
